The Castle Cinema at SEFF

Castle Cinema is the smallest movie theatre in Szczecin. Its history began in 1963, when the first cinema equipment was bought, including the 16mm AP-13 projector. The activity at the time constituted the beginning of what the cinema is today. With the reconstruction of the east wing in 1972, the projectionist booth was modernised, as well as the auditorium. The interior architecture and small screening room make up an intimate and unique atmosphere that is conducive to meetings and discussions. Since 2004 the Film Discussion Club has been functioning here. Castle Cinema takes active part in the city life and contributes to the production of numerous projects. In 2007 it became a member of the Art-House Cinemas Network, and in 2013 – the Polish Digital Cinemas Network. Thanks to the financing from the Polish Film Institute, in 2006 and 2013 the cinema underwent further modernisation. Castle Cinema is a place where the most important thing has always been the film, which is why the screenings are never preceded by an advertising block.
